Two years ago Trevor Williams had the idea to give back to his hometown by sponsoring a Thanksgiving Dinner for the elderly. The idea turned into a working plan, and with the help of his mother, Ms. Slynthia Williams, his vision became a reality as more than 100+ elderly persons from the community came out to enjoy an early Thanksgiving dinner – complete with homemade sweet potato pie and red velvet cake on November 17, 2018.
Trevor, a Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany Alumnus, remembers his days at the Jefferson Unit from 1999 to 2006. At the age of seven Trevor walked to the club and it was there that he learned how to play basketball, pool and swim. It was also at the Jefferson Street club that he learned about what character is, giving back to the community and taking care of those who aren’t able to take care of themselves.
As a current resident of Metro Atlanta and Team Leader at Google, Trevor credits his time at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany as one of the reasons why his has enjoyed success as an adult. Trevor plans to make the Thanksgiving Dinner an annual event for the community and hopes to continue hosting a back-to-school event for kids as well. He is our mission personified: To enable all kids, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
